What do you feel?

In everyday interactions, we often hear responses like:

"I feel that my colleague does not like me."
"I feel like you shouldn't have done this to me."

💭 These are actually thoughts, not feelings. These days, we often confuse the two.

In my view, this is the most fundamental shortcoming of therapies with a cognitive focus only: the client spends most of their time in the realm of thought, thus disconnecting from their body.

📍 Without knowing what I feel, how can I change life situations? Without being able to relate to my own feelings, how can I expect to relate to others?

You cannot connect to reality through thoughts alone.

As long as we are only in the realm of thought, we cannot connect with ourselves and our environment.

In Gestalt therapy, we create a connection with ourselves and our bodies, and we relearn perception. We relearn how to feel and perceive while thinking.
